Surf Highway 100km Ride

Ride the Iconic Surf Highway (SH45) in Taranaki – a ride for all cyclists. Hawera to New Plymouth via Surf Highway SH45.

About

The Surf Highway 100km Ride (2019) starts at Spotswood College New Plymouth. Riders will ride south through Oakura, Okato, Pungarehu, Opunake and Manaia along the Surf Highway 45 to the finish line in Glover Road Hawera.

Rider categories include:

Open Solo $65, Bone Collector $40 each, Relay $40 each & Tandem $65 per bike.

  • Online entries close midnight Wednesday 6th March 2019
  • Late cash entries can be made on registration evening – New Plymouth Fitzroy Skate Rink  4.30 – 6.45pm and Hawera TSB Hub 4.30 – 6.30pm
  • Hawera registration & Pick-up Ride Pack: Venue TSB Hub foyer 4.30pm to 6.30pm
  • Youth rates (under 18 years old on event day) are $30 each for all categories 

All late (at registration) entries incur extra $10 charge. 

 

The cycling route teases riders with a hilly start through to Okato, then mainly flat through for the balance of the ride through to Hawera.

Again we have the category for the electric bike devotees to crank their “power” along the Surf Highway. Prize giving will be approximately 12.30pm at the TSB Hub on Waihi Road Hawera.

Registration:

New Plymouth: Friday, March 8th 2019 at the East End Skate Park Fitzroy, New Plymouth, from 4:30 to 6.45 pm.

Hawera: Hawera TSB Hub  Thursday March 7th 4.30 – 6.30pm

Please Note: Cash registrations will only be available on registration nights. Sorry we cannot accept registrations on the morning of the event. 

Event Day – Saturday March 9th 2019:

Start Line: Spotswood College, New Plymouth.

3 Hour Plus Riders & E-Bikes – Saturday,  Start 8.00 am:Ride Brief 7.45am 

Less than 3 Hours Riders – Saturday,  Start: 09.15 am: Riders Brief 9.00am

All Rides will be a neutral group start, closely marshaled for the entire ride with motorbikes.

Regulations

Terms and Conditions for the Surf Highway 100km Ride.

1.0 – Spot-prize Recipient must be present at prize giving to collect prize.

2.0 – There are no Gender or Age Group Categories.
2.1 – Your age group is your age on the day, no halves – (March 9th 2019).
2.2 – There are no water stations along the route.
2.3 – Depending on entrant numbers the ride start maybe staggered.
2.4 – The Surf Highway 100km Ride from Hawera to New Plymouth is limited to entries of 400 riders only.

In consideration of the acceptance of my entry for the Surf Highway 100km Ride I, or I on behalf of my team, do hereby agree to release from any liability, financial or otherwise, the event, Event Directors, officials, sponsors, volunteer groups, and/or individuals from all claims for injuries and/or damage however caused from my/our participation in this event. I certify that I, and my team are in good health. In submitting the entry form I/we agree to comply with the rules of the 100km Surf Flier.
