Surf Highway 100km Ride

Ride the Iconic Surf Highway (SH45) in Taranaki – a ride for all cyclists. This year, for the first time we will include a category for E-Bike riders.

About

The Surf Highway 100km Ride Starting in New Plymouth (Spotswood College), this is a ride along the Surf Highway to Hawera.

Rider categories include:

Open Solo $65, Bone Collector $40 each, Relay $40 each & Tandem $65 per bike.

  • Online entries close midnight Tuesday 7th March
  • Late cash entries can be made on registration evening – The 4th Wall Theatre  4.30 – 6.45pm
  • Hawera registration & Pick-up Ride Pack: Venue TSB Hub foyer 4.30pm to 6.30pm
  • Youth rates (under 18 years old on event day) are $30 each for all categories 

All late (at registration) entries incur extra $10 charge. 

 

The cycling route teases riders with some gnarly little climbs in the first 22 km to Okato, then it is mainly flat to the finish line at Turuturu School Glover Road, Hawera. Also a new category for the electric bike devotees to crank their “power” along the Surf Highway. Once completed, riders can enjoy a shower, food, drinks and entertainment at the TSB Hub in Waihi Road. Prize giving will be approximately 2.00pm at the TSB HUB.

All entries include a free meal (vegetarian available) other food also available with a cash bar operating.

Registration:

New Plymouth: Friday, March 10 2017 at The 4th Wall Theatre, New Plymouth, from 4:30 to 6.45 pm.

Hawera: TBC (Thursday 9th)

Please Note: Cash registrations will only be available on registration nights. Sorry we cannot accept registrations on the morning of the event. 

Event Day:

Saturday, March 11 2017: 08.15 am: Riders assemble in the Spotswood College start zone for pre-ride briefing.

E-Bike Start Time – 8.10am

08:30 am: Ride begins. There will be a neutral group start, closely marshalled for the entire ride with motorbikes.

Relay: Opunake

Bone Collector: Okato – Opunake – Manaia

Finish Line: Hawera outside Turuturu School – Glover Road Hawera.

Regulations

Terms and Conditions for the Surf Highway 100km Ride.

1.0 – Spot-prize Recipient must be present at prize giving to collect prize.

2.0 – There are no Gender or Age Group Categories.
2.1 – Your age group is your age on the day, no halves – (March 11th 2017).
2.2 – There are no water stations along the route.
2.3 – Depending on entrant numbers the ride start maybe staggered.
2.4 – The Surf Highway 100km Ride from New Plymouth to Hawear is limited to entries of 400 riders only.

In consideration of the acceptance of my entry for the Surf Highway 100km Ride I, or I on behalf of my team, do hereby agree to release from any liability, financial or otherwise, the event, Event Directors, officials, sponsors, volunteer groups, and/or individuals from all claims for injuries and/or damage however caused from my/our participation in this event. I certify that I, and my team are in good health. In submitting the entry form I/we agree to comply with the rules of the 100km Surf Flier.
